Bringing the Community Together with Clay
Walking down Main St. in Poughkeepsie, you're bound to run into an art studio, but Art Centro is special. This community arts space located in downtown Poughkeepsie hosts ceramics classes, fine art classes, private art studios, a public gallery space, as well as a meeting and performance space.
One of Art Centro's most popular events is Community Clay Day, where the community is invited to "get their hands dirty" learning about ceramics, and walking away with an original piece of their own art. People of all ages and skill levels are invited on the 3rd Friday and Saturday each month. More information is available on the Art Centro website.
Art Centro is operated by The Mid-Hudson Heritage Center, and is located at 485 Main Street, the former home of Barrett Clay Works.
