Taking out the Trash
One obstacle that I hear many Poughkeepsters and non-Poughkeepsters talk about when referring to Poughkeepsie, is Waste Management. It's no secret that in areas with a high volume of traffic, there is bound to be more litter, waste, and pollution. As individuals, there are steps we can take to minimize our environmental impact, but all too often, our efforts end within our own households. But why stop there?
I encourage every single person reading this to take that extra step beyond their front door. Don't just talk about the problem, be a part of the solution! The Middle Main Initiative is just one group that offers citizens of this wonderful city the chance to do just that. They've teamed up with other groups in the area to beautify our city during their Community Clean Up Days. The next one is this tomorrow, Saturday October 10th.
The group will be meeting at Changepoint Church (on the corner of Mill and Market Street) at 8am, and will be cleaning Main Street up until about 10am. So get out in the community, meet your neighbors, help beautify our city! Supplies will be provided, but you are welcome to bring some, or just bring yourself to pitch in a helping hand!
Additionally, you can sign up at the Middle Main website for updates on this and other events that help bring our community together in revitalization efforts!
