Uh-oh...

I’m almost sorry I wrote this recipe up. Oreo donuts are possibly a big mistake, because frankly- these are awesome. They are certainly indulgent, although I used all whole wheat flour and greek yogurt, so that’s definitely worth something! If you are looking for an easy treat that will definitely impress, look no further!

Before we begin, make sure you have a donut pan! I got one from Amazon, and it was an awesome decision. Besides making fun dessert donuts, believe it or not it IS possible to make some healthy ones that can fill you up for breakfast, so stay tuned in the future for those.

Oreo Donuts Yields: 8 donuts I adapted this recipe from two recipes I found while browsing around for Oreo desserts. For the cake donut, I started here, and then I adapted an icing from this glaze here.

Ingredients for donuts- 1 cup flour (I used whole wheat, but I’m sure all purpose or a combination of the two would work)

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1/2 tsp baking soda 8 chocolate Oreo wafers, crushed semi-fine (save the 4 cream centers in another bowl, off to the side)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 egg

6 tbsp plain greek yogurt 1/4 cup milk (if using whole wheat flour like I did, add an extra 1 tbsp)

1/4 cup oil (canola, vegetable, or coconut)

Directions for donuts- Preheat oven to 375°, spray donut pan with cooking spray. Combine the dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl.

In a small mixing bowl, combine the wet ingredients together. If using coconut (oil, you’ll need to melt it, and make sure the other wet ingredients are at room temp before combing them with the oil, otherwise the oil won’t mix properly).

Add the wet ingredients into the dry ones and mix together to create a luxurious batter.

To fill my donut pan, I like to put the batter in a ziplock bag and cut one of the lower corners off to create a faux-piping bag, and pipe the batter into the pan. If you don’t feel like doing this, just spoon the batter into the pan the best you can.

Bake for 8 minutes, and then let cool on a cooling rack.

While the donuts are cooling, you can make the glaze. I swear, it tastes EXACTLY like Oreo filling. Yum!

Ingredients for glaze- 4 cream fillings from Oreo cookies

2 tbsp mascarpone cheese (the original recipe calls for cream cheese, so that could also be subbed in)

1-3 tbsp milk

11/2 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 whole Oreos, crushed super super fine, for dusting

Directions for glaze- Warm the cream fillings in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl for a few seconds. You want these to soften, or even begin to melt. Add the creams and the rest of the ingredients into a mixing bowl, adding the milk one tbsp at a time. The glaze should be thin enough to move around, but too thin and it won’t set on the donuts. Add more powdered sugar if it is too thin.

Dunk the donuts into the yummy glaze, and top with the crushed Oreos, and then let the glaze set. Then try not to eat all of them at once.
